What age do you accept children from?
We welcome children aged 2.5 to 5 years, depending on availability and programme.
What is the Montessori approach?
Montessori education is based on independence, hands-on learning, and respect for each child’s development. Children learn through practical, sensory and self-chosen activities in a carefully prepared environment.
Are your staff Montessori trained?
Yes — our educators are Montessori-qualified, Garda vetted and First Aid trained.
What is your staff-to-child ratio?
We follow — and often exceed — Tusla ratio guidelines to ensure children receive plenty of attention, support and supervision.
What does a typical day look like?
A typical morning includes:
• Free play & settling in
• Montessori work cycle
• Practical life & sensory activities
• Circle time
• Outdoor play (weather permitting)
• Story time and home time
Do the children go outside each day?
Yes — we aim to take children outdoors every day, weather permitting.
What should my child bring each day?
We recommend:
• A labelled water bottle
• A healthy snack (if applicable)
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Spare clothes in a labelled bag
Do you provide snacks or lunches?
Parents provide snacks/lunches unless otherwise advised. We encourage healthy, nourishing options.
Is there nap time?
Our day is Montessori-based and does not usually include naps, but younger children are offered quiet rest time if needed.
How do I enrol my child?
Please complete our Booking Enquiry Form on the website. We will contact you to discuss availability and next steps.
Is there a waiting list?
Some of our locations are very busy. If a place is not immediately available, we will add you to our waiting list and notify you as soon as a place opens.
Can we visit before enrolling?
Yes — we encourage parents to arrange a short visit or tour to see the environment and meet the team.
Do you offer mid-year starts?
Yes, depending on availability. ECCE-funded places usually begin in September, but non-ECCE starts may be possible during the year.
Is ECCE available at Little Bunnies?
Yes — all of our locations are ECCE approved. ECCE provides free preschool hours for eligible children.
Do you accept NCS funding?
Yes — we accept the National Childcare Scheme (NCS), which can help reduce the cost of childcare.
Can I use ECCE and NCS together?
Yes. Many families use ECCE for their 3-hour core session and NCS to help with wrap-around or extended hours where available.
How do I apply for ECCE or NCS?
You can find a full guide on our ECCE & NCS page on the website. We are also happy to support you with the application process.
How do you support children who are nervous starting?
We take a gentle, child-led approach. Some children settle straight away; others need a little more time. Parents may stay briefly on the first day if needed, and we work closely with you to support your child.
How do you communicate with parents?
We use a combination of:
• Daily handovers at drop-off/pick-up
• Email updates when relevant
• Notices for events and closures
What if my child has additional needs?
We support children with additional needs wherever possible and can work with AIM (Access and Inclusion Model) where appropriate.
What happens if my child becomes upset?
Our staff provide comfort, reassurance and calm support. We will always contact you if your child remains distressed or needs you.
Are staff Garda vetted?
Yes — all staff are Garda vetted and have completed safeguarding and First Aid training.
What is your illness policy?
Children must stay home if they have:
• A fever
• Vomiting or diarrhoea (48-hour rule applies)
• A contagious illness
This helps to keep all children and staff safe and healthy.
Do you administer medication?
We only administer medication with written parental permission and in line with our medication policy.
What happens if my child has an accident?
All accidents are recorded and shared with parents. We will contact you immediately if medical attention is required.
